Congratulations to Scott Goodmanson for earning the Service Above Self Award. Scott has chaired and been the MC for the Car Raffle and Dinner for three years, in addition to the previous 10 years as being a very instrumental committee member. In 2012, Scott challenged the club to raise the bar and obtain the goal of selling 400 tickets. "We can do it" was his motto and he personally sold over 40 tickets. He was passionate for the success and the goal was obtained. All 400 tickets were sold. Our net earnings after expenses is $31,000! An increase of +$8,000 or 35% over the previous year of $23,000.

The theme of the event was "The Wizard of Oz." It was a party, and Scott dressed up and played the roll as a Munchkin. Other ways in which Scott contributed to the success: He worked with the local dealership in obtaining the car; worked with the committee to enhance an active PowerPoint display of the names and numbers of the drawn tickets; worked with the committee having bingo as another income source as the tickets were called; worked with caterer for a prime rib meal, the bartenders and the committee for silent auction items.

A great time was had by all and it enhanced our image in the community as great PR and allowed us to make a major financial contribution to two projects in Guatemala where we sent a team of 23 Rotarians and non-Rotarians to help the poor and enhanced their lives.

Thank you Scott for all that you do for the Rotary Club of Buffalo!
