Nuclear Power
Dirk Foster has over 35 years of experience in nuclear power and nuclear and radiological emergency management.  He received his initial training in nuclear power from the U.S. Navy and spent 5 years in the submarine force.  He spent 20 years at the Monticello Nuclear power plant as a system engineer and licensed operator instructor.   Following deployment to Japan to assist with the Fukushima disaster, he and his wife moved to Vienna, Austria where he worked for the International Atomic Energy Agency's Incident and Emergency Center.  Upon returning from a deployment to Afghanistan, he served as the Director of Radiological Emergency Management for the U.S. Navy in San Diego.  Since 2016, he has worked for a company that evaluates nuclear and radiological emergency management programs at the Department of Energy's laboratories and facilities around the United States.
